The Farm
Well what a contrast the
weather has been to last year! If I'm going to have a farmer
moan about something, I could have done with more hours in the
day! We have been working flat out lambing in March, calving
in April, harrowing, reseeding along with some Countryside
Stewardship work.
Lambing went very well. Our
lambs are born inside in the polytunnel and with the good weather, were put out
into the fields as quickly as possible. Our flock is about 60%
Llanwenog or LLanwenog cross. By the autumn this will increase
to 90%. To find out more about more about the breed click on
the cartoon of 'Wenog' to the left.

Environmental News
It is great to see the woodland
coming to life having fenced it off from livestock two years
ago. We have also been undertaking some thinning work which will
bring in more light and assist the regeneration.
The wood running down Haggbeck
is, we are told, quite ancient. The tree mix is Alder, Oak,
Birch, Ash with some Hazel, Holly and a few conifers. Coppicing
has taken place in parts in the past. Step one was fencing it
off. Step two now involves thinning it out and letting it
regenerate naturally.
The Quarry pond has been heaving
with frogs which is wonderful to see and quite an improvement
from when we first arrived. The frogs in turn have brought
heron. Other birds very evident have been a pair of buzzards,
curlews and oyster catchers |

Website Changes.
The
website is being updated on a regular basis which will make it
more relevant and more informative. The Online Shop will
shortly contain all our various Beef and lamb packs along with
the opportunity to order individual items such as Lamb Leg
Shank, Rump Steak etc. We will start with the most popular
items and expand it from there.
The
payment system is totally secure if you wish to pay by credit
card. Cheques are equally welcome. We receive the orders daily
and will acknowledge receipt and email you with any questions
that may arise. Please give it a try.
